From 1996 to 2001 Afghanistan was ruled by the Taliban who applied a strict and ultra-conservative interpretation of the Koran to all aspects of daily life. Women were forbidden to leave their houses, girls schools were closed, music was banned and cinema houses shut down.
Investigative journalist Pratap Chatterjee, traveled to Mazar-i-Sharif, the first city to fall to the Northern Alliance and the United States bombing raids in 2001. This week we present a special documentary that chronicles life after the end of the war.
