Katrina Uncovers and New Orleans Now

Radio programs within the Making Contact series that brings into view the issues of racism, poverty, government misdeeds, militarism, environmental justice, health, gentrification, corporate profiteering, the role of oil companies before and after Katrina, insular government, FEMA, “Homeland Security” and other disasters waiting to happen, and the stories of survivors trying to rebuild their lives.


ElectionWatch ’04

A special, embedded series broadcast from November 2003 through the November 2004 elections. This series promoted fully informed participation in the democratic process.


Media Collaborative on Colombia

U.S. involvement in human rights, environmental and militarization issues in Colombia, with Foreign Policy in Focus, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR), and the Institute for Public Accuracy.


Civil Liberties Shows

A collaboration of media organizations, analysts, funders and grassroots activists working together to inform the public of a growing and dangerous threat to a free and democratic society: The U.S. government’s aggressive military stance abroad and civil liberties rollback at home in response to the events of September 11, 2001.


Beyond Headlines

An eight month series produced weekly in response to the events of 9/11. The program provided in-depth investigative reports and breaking news on U.S. budgetary priorities, economic and military interests, social policy and the impacts upon society in the period since the terrorist attacks.


Globalization: Voices of Resistance

People from around the world sharing stories about their lives and explaining how economic globalization has affected their wages and working conditions, and what it all means for democracy, human rights, women, and the environment.


Live Wire Independent News

The Live Wire Independent News pilot was a daily newscast from February to March 2001. It was a collaboration with several community radio stations and independent media centers. Daily news production is a capital intensive venture and unfortunately, funding was not secured for production beyond the pilot.

National Radio Project and Free Speech Radio News broadcast daily, half-hour programs focused on the Spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank held in Washington, D.C., April 10-14, 2000.
