<p>Women are gaining influence as leaders throughout the world, fighting for    peace, justice, the environment and civil society. In this program, we    profile two international change-makers dedicated to nonviolent civil    disobedience and resistance. Medea Benjamin is a U.S. activist. She&#8217;s    taken her anti-war, anti-militarism, pro-democracy and pro-environment    activism to new heights with her group CODEPINK. Saw Myat Mar is a    Burmese activist who has worked closely with Nobel Prize laureate Daw Aung    San Suu Kyi, to establish Burma&#8217;s &#8220;National League for Democracy.&#8221;</p>

<p>Prudence Mabele is a South African activist in the battle to contain HIV    and raise awareness of the AIDS crisis. Mary Pipher is an American    psychologist and author confronting the American Psychological Association    about its cooperation with the U.S. government in the use of torture.</p>

<p>Women are gaining influence as leaders throughout the world, fighting for peace, justice, the environment and civil society.</p>
<p>On this edition, we profile four artist activists. Velina Brown is a core actor with the world famous San Francisco Mime Troupe. So An is a singer activist in Haiti. Jaishri Abichandani is an artist and curator with the South Asian Women&#8217;s Creative Collective and Zimbabwean Rutendo Mudzamiri teams with the International Museum of Women to launch the &#8220;Imagining Ourselves&#8221; online art exhibit.</p>

<p><strong>Lucky Chhetri </strong>started the first women&#8217;s trekking guide business in Nepal.    <strong>Jane Kunyiha</strong> works with the Baobab Project, making micro-grants for small    business startups in Kenya. <strong>Brigitte Kitenge</strong> created a women&#8217;s cooperative    organization in the Congo for women victims of war, and <strong>Rashmi Dixit</strong> started    a restaurant to rescue indigenous culture in India.</p>
