National Radio Project Desks

are production, training and networking hubs that create material for broadcast. Each Desk focuses the energy of volunteers and grassroots activists, creating production teams with roots in the community. The Desks train community members to produce shows on the topics they care about. The capacity and productivity of each Desk fluctuates according to availability of funding resources.

Women’s Desk

Produces programming on a wide spectrum of topics from women’s perspectives. Networks with grassroots women’s groups to help formulate, evaluate and produce programs.

Globalization Desk

Focusing on the effects that macro-economic policies have on the lives of people around the world, this desk analyzes public policies and the institutions behind those policies.

Prison Desk

Provides critical analysis of and in-depth reporting on incarceration in the U.S. and world-wide. Focuses on the stories and perspectives of educators, policy analysts, community organizers, prisoners and their families.

Environmental Desk

Analyzes public policies and the various ways those policies affect our natural environment. This Desk prioritizes the voices and stories of the environmental and environmental justice movements.

Labor Desk

Highlights the struggles of everyday people for healthcare, childcare, livable wages and more. Challenges the false image people have of organized labor and the broader labor movement.
