MAKING CONTACT - a weekly international radio program

A special one-hour program of music and speeches highlighting Afghan-American voices, produced by the Women's Desk of the National Radio Project.
One of the largest concentrations of Afghans in the United States lives southeast of San Francisco. the Afghan Women's Association International, with the organization Global Exchange, brought 1,000 people together in Hayward, California on September 30th, 2001. They shared the music, poetry, and a spirit of peace.
On this one hour special you will hear the voices of Afghans who fear the further destruction of their land, and North American activists who stand in opposition to retaliation and racism.
Note to stations: "Bridges Not Walls: Afghan Women for Peace" -- running a total of 58 minutes -- can also be aired as 29 minutes when back-announced after the ½ hour break.
