UN 2000: Representing the Poor or the Powerful?

October 11, 2000

On the agenda at the United Nations Millennium Summit in New York City September 6th through the 8th 2000, were issues concerning poverty alleviation, environmental impacts and economic globalization. But much of the discussion in and outside the summit focused on the direction of the organization on its 55th anniversary. In New York City that same week, over a thousand people gathered at a teach-in organized by the International Forum on Globalization to discuss trends in the United Nations.

On this program we take a look at the United Nations and current directions the 55 year old organization is taking.
