MAKING CONTACT - a weekly international radio program
May 19, 1999
Each day, over $1.5 trillion dollars are traded in currency exchanges--that's far more than is traded in goods and services. As money is bought and sold through rapid electronic transactions, 24-hours a day, many countries around the world are experiencing volatile fluctuations in monetary value with serious social consequences.
On this program we take a look at currency speculation, its effects in Brazil and Malaysia, and some solutions proposed by economists, scholars, and activists.
