MAKING CONTACT - a weekly international radio program

Selective Access: Public Broadcasting

February 4, 1998

Though originally intended to be insulated from money and politics, public broadcasting is increasingly becoming a forum for business news and run-of-the-mill programming; hardly an alternative to commercial television and radio. Perhaps more disturbing, independent producers are encountering varying degrees of censorship on public airwaves.

Featuring:

David Barsamian, Alternative Radio; Beth Sanders and Randy Baker, filmmakers - creators of "Fear and Favor in the Newsroom"; Dr. Yvonne Hadad, historian and expert on Islam.
