I listened to this "Beyond Gay Marriage (Encore)" program and couldn't believe my ears! This program certainly doesn't speak for me.

I'm gay, white, retired, over 60, living on Social Security. I'm not in a relationship and not even close to getting married. But since 1992, I have been supporting the gay marriage movement. Where have you been? (I worked against the Briggs Initiative, against the AIDS Quarantine Initiatives, on HIV/AIDS issues, with ACT UP, Queer Nation, for gays in the military and against Proposition 22).

I think we need to go after any discrimination and not just for LGBT people, but also racial, age and disability discrimination.

If there is discrimination, we should go after it. And I do think that there is clearly discrimination in our relationships and that many lesbian and gay couples can benefit from gay marriage.

We've been making gains in the gay marriage movement! The Perry v. Schwarzenegger decision that overturned Prop 8 has the potential for positively helping us to gain "suspect class" status giving us protections similar to those that women and people of color have. That's big.

We can work on these other issues (elderly, HIV, etc), too. I have to give this program a thumbs down.
