The last time Congress tried to change labor laws that made it easier to organize a union, the bill lost by one vote. That was in the 1970s. This fall, another bill will likely come up for a vote, and a contentious debate on Capitol Hill is brewing.

On this edition, in a special collaboration with “Public Eye Magazine,” correspondent Abby Scher takes a look at the Employee Free Choice Act. We also hear from Amy Dean, a longtime union leader who talks about the future of labor unions and tells us what’s up with all the current infighting.

Featuring:

Angel Warner, Union Member; Josh Goldstein, American Rights at Work; Rick Wolff, Economist; Kim Phillips-Fein, Historian; Thomas Robinson, Philadelphia Security Officers Union; Ricardo Valadez, Jobs With Justice; Amy B. Dean, longtime union leader.

This program is a special collaboration between National Radio Project and Public Eye Magazine.
