Clockwise from Top Left: Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio; Vicente Paderez; New Orleans Women's Health Clinic staff and volunteers; Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) marching in Boston.

As 2008 comes to a close, we take a look back at some of the stories we covered in 2008: Iraq war veterans speaking out; a crackdown on immigrants in Arizona; and the creation of a reproductive health care program for low income women of color in post-Katrina New Orleans. We’ll also update our story on U.S. military vets. With the new Obama administration, can they expect a change of policy overseas and at home?
