What is democracy, and do we have it in the United States?

On this edition, we will hear directly from people who say there’s no true democracy in the U.S., but that we can build one. Grassroots leaders from emerging democracy movements speak out about how to create democracy in the U.S. It all starts, they say, within their own communities.

Featuring:

Reverend Lennox Yearwood, C.E.O. of the Hip-Hop Caucus; Shannon Briggs, Director of the Local Green Economy program at Global Exchange, Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap, Director of Democracy Unlimited and fellow with Liberty Tree; David Cobb, former Green-Party Presidential candidate and fellow with Liberty Tree.

Senior Producer/Host: Tena Rubio
Associate Producer: Puck Lo
Interns: Samson Reiny, Joaquin Palomino and Elena Botkin-Levy
